Janine Robinson
Managing Director

Janine Robinson has specialized in the field of responsible gambling since 1998. She is regarded as a leader in the field of responsible gambling education and training, and has provided policy guidance internationally. Her advanced degrees in adult education, clinical care and community development, combined with her passionate interest in culture and gambling, bring a 360°  perspective to RG solutions. Janine has also provided clinical care to people directly affected by problem gambling.

Janine leads RG+ and the research and development programs of RGC. Combining creativity and rigor, her work is innovative while being supported by the best empirical and practice evidence available. She brings workplace learning practices to responsible gambling programing, and academic rigor to program evaluation, creating programs and guiding responsible gambling policies for the real world.

Her team has depth in multiple research methodologies specific to gambling systems, and a deft touch at bringing the evidence to life through applied research.

Jon Kelly, Ph.D.

Jon is a senior advisor for RG+. He has also been the CEO of the Responsible Gambling Council since 1998.  Jon has been instrumental in building RGC into a world-leading organization that works to reduce gambling risks through improved play safeguards and innovative awareness programs. Under his leadership, RGC has shaped responsible gambling best practices that influence gambling practice world-wide.

In 2016, he received the Canadian Gaming Industry Leadership and Outstanding Contribution Award from the Canadian Gaming Association. He also sits on the Advisory Panel of Gambling Safeguards for the Government of Singapore and is a member of the steering group for the Senet Group’s RG Messaging Project in the UK.   Jon has been invited to speak on a wide variety of RG topics at conferences and seminars around the world.

Prior to his work with RGC, he held leadership roles for the Ontario government in policy and operational positions in drug and alcohol prevention, disability programs and employment.

Alex Price, Ph.D.

Alex Price, Ph.D.

Alex is the Senior Policy Analyst and serves as a key investigator on RG+ projects.

Since arriving at RGC in 2015, Alex’s projects have included creating low-risk gambling guidelines, investigating improvements to self-exclusion practices and devising messaging for people who gamble online. His expertise includes scope development, data gathering, qualitative and quantitative analysis and report writing.

Alex has 10 years of experience in public health policy and programming and is an alumnus Fellow in Public Health Policy with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

Sherene Fernando, M.Sc.

Sherene Fernando, M.Sc.

Sherene is Manager, Research and Policy for RG+. In her 6 years at RGC, Sherene has contributed to numerous best practice and impact studies, collaborated in standards development, and conducted many evaluations of RG programs and policies for both venue and online gambling. In a previous role at RGC, she also completed several casino audits for the RG Check accreditation program, which involved detailed assessments of RG programs in several jurisdictions.

Sherene’s specialties include project management, analyzing and providing recommendations for the provision of RG programs, policy analysis, and report writing.
